Fun with Finish This Book Part 1

I recently bought Finish This Book by Keri Smith.  Since it’s kind of fun and silly and creative, I thought I’d share some of my experiences with you.  I’m only going to share my personal contributions to the book, not the author’s copyrighted material.  So, if you want to read the book, then buy yourself a copy!

Ok so that was the easy part.

The sad part is, I had to sketch this out in pencil first.

So that’s it for Part 1.  The book is fun, and it inspires creativity.  There will be more to come, when I have time.  But for now, I hope you enjoyed laughing at my hysterical lack of talent for drawing!

    1. LOL I know what you mean! I love reading about books other people have enjoyed, but my “to buy” list gets ever longer! I think this book is by the same author as the Wreck This Journal books. I looked at those too, because it seemed fun, but this one seemed more… varied, if that makes sense.

    1. Exactly! When I was writing the spiral, I searched for the right word for it, and all that came to me was “desecration.” Sacrilegious was the word I was looking for, so thanks for that (it was still bothering me). It is a really neat idea. We literary types sometimes need to be given permission to totally destroy a book, you know?

      1. Honestly, I’ve had this book for a few months now. It took me that long to finally just say, “Screw it,” and write in the thing. I kept wavering between using scratch paper. It’s amazing how these things we were raised with can be so hard to get over! Even when I’m specifically told, “Write in this book,” I’m still like nooooooooo.

  1. Its a cool idea. Might have to check this book out sometime. I love creating my own books, I am in the middle of creating one – handwriting, doodling and photos of my relationship with my bf – it’s kind of a work in progress so I’m not sure when he’ll receive it! But it sure is fun. 🙂

    1. I love doing that! I used to do it more when I was younger. I remember writing whole books to my boyfriend or friends in spiral notebooks. I’d draw goofy things, write them notes, put in pictures. I suppose it was the precursor to scrapbooking (which is what I call it now when I do it, lol). I love all that sort of stuff. The only part I hate is facing how terrible I am at any type of drawing. The only talent I have for that is geometric shapes or block letters!

      1. I’m terrible at drawing too! It just all looks like a 5 year old drew them. And my handwriting is horrible but I still enjoy it anyways 😀 At least you have your block letters haha

      2. LOL that’s funny! My drawings look the same way. I can barely make a decipherable stick figure. I have beautiful images in my head, but for some reason my hands can never make them look… well, like something other than a hot mess. My handwriting tends to be pretty neat, so I don’t really know why I can’t draw. Some people just have the talent, I guess!
